1. 180 NEWS

High School Summer Missions
We have some great news here at 180! We are heading to Camp Harlow (www.campharlow.com) in Eugene, OR for a week of camp counseling. Camp Harlow has been a great place for Summer Camps for the last 60 years and this year we get to join with them in serving, sharing God's Word and love, with local children.

If you are a current 8th grader through Senior in High School, download the application packet, pray about it, and contact Pastor Aaron with any questions.

A Note from Pastor Aaron
In case you missed it yesterday, Grace Point voted that I expand my role to include Mid School! Most of you mid schoolers know me, and I you from our time together on Sunday morning, but I look forward to getting to know you better on Thursday nights too! I am glad for this opportunity and am grateful for the team of volunteers around me who care deeply for you. I am here for you and will be praying for you. You can always call or email or stop by my office here at church. See you on Thursday!

Aaron

Grad Parties
This is one of those bittersweet times of the year; It's sweet that you're graduating (!!!!) and bitter because you're moving on from mid school or high school. Well you don't want to miss the celebration! We've got a party in store for our grads next week: Seniors at Fuel (6/10) and 8th graders at the Danger Zone (6/11) from 7-8:30. Come for some great treats, a look back on their years in 180 and a chance to give them some kudos as they move on.

Check out last year's parties:Free Music Winner
Two weeks ago we had a contest and asked you to tell us one of your favorite Christian songs and how it's helped you in your journey with God.

The winning entry was from Christine Laughlin!!!! For her willingness to share with us, we've got a free CD of great music from "Rockin' Road Tunes 2009". Thanks for sharing Christine! Here's a snippet of what she had to say:
OK! My favorite song is "God is Watching Over You" by Phil Joel! I love it! Whenever I heard it on the radio I would get up and dance :) Its an amazing song and you should go listen to it right now. Ok so one time I was feeling really sad...and I turned on the radio. The intro of the song came on and I just smiled :) and just started singing to it. When the chorus came on "God is watching over you as always, you are loved what ever you go through, He's right beside you, and if you think He'll ever leave you, you better think again!" It was just perfect!

That's why I love that song.

2. SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEART

Can You Have It All?

"No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." (Matthew 6:24)

When I was in high school, the adults in my life had a habit of telling me (and every other student), "You can be anything you want to be." They said this as if it were a good thing. Because I lived in a free, prosperous country and had a good education, my life menu had endless options on it.

Here's what they didn't tell me: "You cannot be everything you want to be." We live in a "have it all" culture and "anything we want to be" easily translates itself in our ears to collecting the whole set. We want to use our lives up for God and have a comfortable lifestyle. We want to die to ourselves and look hot. We want to look hot and be pure. We want to change the world and to hang out with the pretty, funny people. We want an iPod. No, the new one.

Here's what Jesus told me: "You can't have it all." Oh. "For starters, will you serve God or money?" Yes! "Nope. Gotta pick one." But I can be anything I want to be! "True. So which will you pick?" All of the above? "Not an option. One or the other."

Oh.

Think: What do you risk by choosing to serve God instead of money? What do you risk by choosing to serve money instead of God? What are other things you can "serve" besides God or money?

Pray: Ask God to free you from the illusion that you can serve Him and money at the same time.

Do: Make a short list of things Money tells its servants to do.
