2. Poll of the Week

A great controversy raged on our tubing trip Saturday. Just what is that stuff on Kelly's face?! No one seemed to agree on what that little red thing to the left of her mouth was, not even Kelly, so we decided to put it out to you to settle the issue once and for all! Please cast your vote.

3. SOMETHING FOR YOUR HEART
"I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find
integrity there" (1 Chronicles 29:17).
Fool the Scanners?
So you're staring intently at your screen, eyeing a fresh batch of e-mails.
Hmmm, whose address is that?? you mutter softly to yourself.
An unfamiliar address coupled with the words "Here is the information you
requested" in the subject line leads to the following copy:
SCANTRON GENIUS!
Here at last! This very controversial report describes in detail how any
student can easily defeat Scantron test readers to pass a test even though
he does not know the answer! This simple method will fool the scan reader
into thinking you answered correctly! No tools needed. Completely tested.
You won't believe how simple this method is!?
Quite a temptation, huh? Now you can blow off studying for all those classes that use Scantron tests, right?
Be assured, in today's world many people would have no problem ordering this report. They don't think cheating is a big deal.
When I received that e-mail message (yes, the message is real--I have no
idea who sent it to me), I couldn't help noticing some of the euphemisms for cheating contained in its copy: "Defeat Scantron test readers," "pass a
test," and "fool the scan reader" all amount to a complete lack of integrity--to being a cheat.
To see the effects of lives lived in a dishonest way, check out the sad
story of Samuel. He placed his sons as judges for the people of Israel.
Unfortunately, "they were not like their father, for they were greedy for
money. They accepted bribes and perverted justice" (1 Samuel 8:3). They
cheated others and themselves. Their actions led to the people of Israel
making a poor decision and facing disapproval and discipline from God.
Scan your heart with these words: "I know, my God, that you examine our
hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there" (1 Chronicles 29:17). If
you cheat, your heart cannot be clean before God. Your fellowship with him
will be broken by your sin. Don't buy into the lie that cheating is
acceptable.
Fool the scanners? You're only fooling yourself.
